• Harvest: when entire flower head has turned blue

Seed Sowing:

Sow seeds indoors 10-16 weeks before transplanting outdoors.  Do not cover seeds, light will help germination.  Bottom water.  Transplant into 2 inch pots 5-8 weeks after plant has emerged.   I find that eryngium is a very free self seeder in my yard, I can have many plants emerge in the spring.  

Cut Flower:

Eryngium is a beautiful airy filler, wait for the whole head to turn blue before you cut it, it is known to wilt otherwise.  Once cut it has a wonderful vase life and can be dried.
